During the second semester of my third year studying Communication Design (2025), I got the opportunity to carry out a placement with Aberdeen based studio Fine Day. This experience allowed me to be involved in multiple different projects and I was able to develop my understanding in how a design studio operates as well as growing my design and communication skills.

BIG BELMONT BASH
The Fine Day team created the brand identity for the Big Belmont Bash (a celebration held on Belmont Street to bring people together) in 2024 for its first ever event and for 2025 wanted to develop it for the next event! This led to me getting the chance to create some characters that would fit into the brand identity and the event itself. As the event is Aberdeen-based, I completed some research on animals that locals would commonly see and that the city is known for and begun designing a seal and a seagull. Following the creation of these characters, I then got to work alongside the Fine Day team to create merchandise in the form of tote bags and stickers, as well as some advertisement posters to be put up around the city.
ROUGE
I also got the chance to be involved in social media design for Rouge, an Aberdeen based & family-ran fragrance business. Taking each scent, we paired it together with a colour and from there, put together a social media post to visually display the notes.
